Rotary Prayer
July 21, 2021
A perfect
Symbol for such as we
Is the wonderful,
Magical Honey Bee!
He works all day and then flies home
To his sweet little spot in the honey comb.
He’s aerodynamically unsound,
Yet manages, somehow, to get around.
The Bee and his buddies each day parade
From flower to flower in pollen trade.
If he should quit, there’d be a surprise,
When fruit trees didn’t get pollen-ized.
The world would change in countless ways,
If Honey Bees happened to fade away.
It’s much the same with Rotarians, too:
It’s simply amazing what they can do!
Take a little bit here and a little bit there,
Transporting resources, it seems,
Through air.
So that bit by bit,
Through hands and feet,
They make life better, they make it sweet.
It may be fresh water or some vaccine
To rinse the thirst of a village clean,
Or to put diseases on the run,
So children can live and have plenty of fun.
Rotarians, too, seem unlikely to fly;
They’re wingless and heavy…Unfit for the sky.
Yet motivated by something more,
And especially in groups,
They are able to soar…
To accomplish
What no one believes they could,
Erasing despair
By doing good.
And tonight,
We welcome quite joyously
A new Rotarian worker Bee!
May all our Bees and Rotarians thrive,
To keep
The sweetness in life alive.
Amen.
